The Lakeside Post has learned that the Guntersville Wildcat’s head football coach, Phil Isom, is hanging up his whistle after 11 seasons at the helm of the program.
Isom is reportedly made the announcement in a team meeting late Tuesday afternoon.
It is unclear if Isom has already submitted his request to the school board or if he plans to do that at the next meeting.
It is said that Isom plans to remain in the school system as a teacher.
Isom is the second most winning coach in Guntersville High School’s history. Isom had 10 winning seasons and brought home a state championship in 2006.
