The Foundation for Marshall Medical Centers believes healthcare professionals are the cornerstone of an effective healthcare organization. It is this very belief which led the Foundation for Marshall Medical Centers to award almost $20,000 in scholarships last year to graduating Marshall County seniors planning to pursue a career in the healthcare field. Because of the community’s generous support, the Foundation board of directors is thrilled to have the chance to offer more scholarship opportunities in the spring of 2012.
Area high school and home schooled seniors are invited to apply for scholarships to be awarded in May of this year. The scholarships are provided through the Physicians’ Scholarship Program which was created by the Foundation’s board of directors made up of area business leaders, health care providers and other Marshall County residents who are interested in playing a role in the training of quality health care professionals.
“Funding for the scholarship program is made possible by more than 120 physicians affiliated with our health system, the dedication of the Physicians’ Spouses Auxiliary, and individual contributions from our community,” says Andrea Oliver, Foundation Director. “It is always moving to see how invested the community is in the education and future of our local students.”
Students interested in applying may do so by contacting their school’s guidance counselor. Applications and guidelines are also available online atwww.mmcenters.com under “Upcoming Events.” The deadline to submit applications is March 2, 2012.
