
Eight freshmen and 10 sophomores have been selected to serve on Snead State Community College’s 2012 Homecoming Court.
The Homecoming King and Queen will be selected from the group of sophomores and announced on Thursday, Feb. 2, between the women’s and men’s basketball games. The Parsons take on Wallace-Hanceville. The Lady Parsons will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. at the Plunkett-Wallace Gymnasium, followed by the men at approximately 7:45 p.m.
Representing the sophomores are Ashley Amberson, Meghan King, Meg Mooneyham, Jacie Scott, McKenzie Spurlin, Caleb Brown, Colton Campbell, Zach Frasier, Jesse Reeves, and Will Tidmore.
Ashley Amberson of Boaz is the daughter of Ray and Karen Amberson. She is a 2010 graduate of Boaz High School and is attending Snead State on a leadership scholarship. She is studying fashion merchandising at Snead State and will transfer to the University of Alabama this fall to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design/Textiles. She is secretary of the Snead State Ambassadors, Co-Captain of the Snead State Dance Team, and a member of Phi Beta Lambda, Phi Theta Kappa, Parson Pit, FCA, and Peer Tutoring. She is also involved in Frequency and is a LifePoint youth leader.
Meghan King of Arab is the daughter of Billy and Sheila King. She is a 2010 graduate of Arab High School and is attending Snead State on a general scholarship. She is majoring in Elementary Education and will transfer to the University of North Alabama this fall to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Ambassadors, FCA, and Parson Pit. She is also involved with the Unashamed and Frequency ministries.
Meg Mooneyham is a sophomore from Blountsville and is the daughter of Greg and Susan Mooneyham. She is a 2010 graduate of Arab High School and is attending Snead State on a leadership scholarship. She is majoring in Biology at Snead State and will transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham this fall to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Biology. She is president of the SGA, publicity-chair of the Ambassadors, secretary/treasurer of the History Club, and is an active member of the Parson Pit, FCA, TRiO, and the Young Republicans Club. Meg also participates in Frequency.
Jacie Scott is from Boaz and is the daughter of Jeff and Jonita Scott. She is a 2010 graduate of Boaz High School and is attending Snead State on a leadership scholarship. This fall, Jacie will transfer to Auburn University to complete her studies for a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Public Relations. She is president of the Ambassadors, SGA secretary, public relations coordinator of Phi Theta Kappa, and is a member of the History Club and FCA. Jacie attends First Baptist Church in Boaz and actively participates in the youth choir.
McKenzie Spurlin is the daughter of Randy and Tammy Spurlin of Boaz. She is a 2010 graduate of Boaz High School and is attending Snead State on a leadership scholarship. She is studying Elementary Education and will transfer this fall to Jacksonville State University to complete her Bachelor’s degree. She is vice-president of the Ambassadors and a member of SGA, Phi Theta Kappa, and Parson Pit. She also participates in the Crestview Church of Christ youth group.
Caleb Brown is a 2010 graduate of Boaz High School. He is the son of E.R. Brown and Mary Meeks and is attending Snead State on a leadership scholarship. Caleb is majoring in Biology and will transfer to the University of Alabama this fall to finish his coursework to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Biology Education. He is treasurer of the Ambassadors and a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He is also an assistant coach at Boaz High School.
Colton Campbell is the son of Craig and Tammy Campbell and is a 2010 graduate of Albertville High School. He is attending Snead State on a service scholarship and is majoring in Social Science Education. Colton will transfer to the University of Alabama this fall to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education. He is a LifePoint tennis coach. On campus, Colton serves as vice-president of SGA, Phi Theta Kappa, and History Club. He is president of Parson Pit and is a member of the Ambassadors and the Young Republicans.
Zach Frasier is a 2010 graduate of Crossville High School and is attending Snead State on a leadership scholarship. He is the son of Vann and Patrice Frasier and will transfer to Wallace State this fall to continue his studies in Respiratory Therapy. He is SGA treasurer, Phi Theta Kappa vice-president, and a member of the Parson Pit. He also participates in Frequency.
Jesse Reeves is the son of Jimmy and Sharron Reeves and is a 2010 graduate of Arab High School. He is a member of the College Street Singers and is attending Snead State on a music scholarship. He also participates in FCA, Ambassadors, Cheerleading, and Phi Theta Kappa. Jesse is majoring in Math Education and plans to transfer to the University of North Alabama this fall to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Math Education. Jesse is also a worship leader for the Gilliam Springs Baptist youth group.
Will Tidmore is a 2010 graduate of Albertville High School and is also attending Snead State on a music scholarship. He is majoring in Chemistry and is involved with the College Street Singers, FCA, Ambassadors, History Club, and the Young Democrats. Will also is a worship leader at First Baptist Church in Albertville. He will transfer to Auburn University in the fall to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. He is the son of Tim and Natasha Tidmore.
Representing the freshmen are Katie Bobo, McKenzie Hardin, Ginny-Lynne Sexton, Keelie Wilkes, Brett George, Lucas Jolley, Brady Keel, and Stephen Starkey.
Katie Bobo is the daughter of Wade and Patty Bobo. She is a 2011 graduate of Fort Payne High School and is attending Snead State on a softball scholarship. Katie plans to transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in biology/pre-med. She is a member of the softball team, History Club, and SGA. She attends New Oregon United Methodist Church on Lookout Mountain.
McKenzie Hardin is a 2011 graduate of Albertville High School and is the daughter of Cissy and Terry Kennamer and Donnie and Debra Hardin. She is attending Snead State on an academic scholarship and is a member of the Ambassadors and Parson Pit. McZenzie attends Victory Baptist Church. She will transfer to the University of Alabama at Huntsville in the fall of 2013 to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Neonatal Intensive Care.
Ginny-Lynne Sexton is the daughter of Kenny and Gina Sexton and is a 2011 graduate of Guntersville High School. She is attending Snead State on a service scholarship and plans to transfer to Samford University in the fall of 2013 to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations. She is a member of the Ambassadors and Parson Pit, attends the Church at Lake Guntersville, and participates in the REAL student ministry.
Keelie Wilkes is a 2011 graduate of Crossville High School and is the daughter of Steve and Lorie Wilkes. She is a Presidential Scholar at Snead State and is majoring in Nursing. She attends Fyffe Church of God and plans to transfer to Jacksonville State University in the fall of 2013 to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Brett George is also a 2011 graduate of Crossville High School. He is the son of Connie Campbell. He is attending Snead State on a service scholarship and is majoring in Chemistry. He is SGA public relations director and a member of the Ambassadors, Young Democrats, and the Parson Pit. He actively participates in the LifePoint and Frequency ministries. Brett plans to transfer to the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall of 2013 to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy.
Lucas Jolley is the son of Belinda Jolley and is a 2011 graduate of Geraldine High School. He is attending Snead State on a technology scholarship and is majoring in Engineering. He is a member of the SGA, Parson Pit, and Young Democrat clubs. He participates in Frequency and plans to transfer to the University of Alabama at Huntsville in the fall of 2013 to pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering.
Brady Keel is a 2011 graduate of Boaz High School and is the son of Chris Keel and Marsha Cryar. He is a Presidential Scholar at Snead State and is majoring in Biology. He plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in the fall of 2012 to also pursue his Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Brady is in charge of governmental relations in SGA and is a member of Ambassadors and the Parson Pit. He is also an active participant in the youth group at First Baptist Church in Boaz.
Stephen Starkey is the son of Pat and Kim Starkey of Decatur. He is a 2011 graduate of Priceville High School and plays baseball for Snead State.
