RSVP is now taking applications for the 10th annual “Citizen Police Academy” class.
The class will meet each Wednesday from 8am to 12 noon beginning March 7th and ending May 2nd.
The academy is sponsored by the Marshall County District Attorney’s Office and the Marshall County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. More than 40 speakers from the law enforcement community make the academy a truly educational event. There is no age limit for attendance and you do not have to belong to RSVP to attend.
Speakers include:
Upon completion of the program men and women academy members will receive a diploma. More importantly, they will have experienced firsthand the activities to which police officers routinely are exposed, will understand how the court system works and what it takes to make the system work.
Due to the sensitive and confidential nature of law enforcement, applicants must consent to a criminal history background check. An application can be picked up and turned in at the RSVP office at 1805 Gunter Avenue in Guntersville or a copy can be printed from the RSVP website atwww.mcrsvp.org.
To find the form on the website, click the current events tab and scroll down to Citizens Academy. There you can print it out. The filled out form can be dropped by the RSVP office or mailed to 1805 Gunter Avenue by February 27th.
