The Mountain Valley Arts Council will be hosting a reception and meet and greet with local artist Annette Brewer Tosti Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4.
Tosti, born in Bessemer, has spent the last 20 years in California where she has been active in several art organizations including Pacific Rim Sculptors Group and the Northern Women's Caucus for the Arts. Tosti is also the founder member of Fiber Dimension's Group and was instrumental in establishing the Marin Museum of Modern Art.
Tosti has recently moved back to her grass roots of Guntersville where she is busy establishing her art study.
She has gained country-wide recognition and has acquired many awards for her "new tradition" art work. Her art has been viewed in more than 50 shows from San Diego Museum of Art, Coos Art Museum, Napa Valley Museum of Arts and the Marin Museum of Modern Art.
Patti Opacinch with the Moutain Valley Arts Council is very excited to have Tosti and her work at the Gallery.
"This is huge," Opacinch said. "It's a big, big step for us. It's a different exhibit than other art that we've had. We stepped out of our box."
Opacinch encourages the community to visit the Gallery and see for themselves Tosti's work.
"The exhibit is free to the community," Opacinch continues. "We would like everyone to come visit the reception Sunday and welcome Annette back to the community."
The reception and meet and greet will be held Sunday at the Gallery from 2 until 4 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.
The Tosti's art work will be featured at the Gallery until September 6th. The Gallery is opened Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and weekends by reservation.
