
The Pilgrim’s Pride chicken processing plant in Guntersville has been shut down twice today after receiving several bomb threats.
According to sources, the plant received the first threat that there was a bomb inside the building around 9:00 this morning.
The plant was immediately evacuated and emergency personnel were notified. All employees sat across the highway (227) from the plant while a search was conducted to find the explosive device.
The search turned up no signs of a bomb and employees were allowed back in the building shortly before lunch.
Later in the afternoon, the plant received another call from the supposed bomber informing them the bomb was still in the building and set to go off at 3:30.
The plant was evacuated again and second shift was prevented from entering the property will authorities searched for the bomb.
As of right now, no bomb has been found or detonated. Employees are returning to work as of this 4 this afternoon.
