Day of Caring is your chance to make a lasting impact in our community. Be a part of this fun-filled day of community service by joining hundreds of your friends, neighbors and colleagues. Your group might weatherize a house for a homebound senior, collect arts and craft supplies for a daycare center, or clear underbrush and verify a cemetery exists on an island. (Yes, you read that correctly - verify a cemetery exists on an island owned by the Girl Scouts – Project B-10.)
Last year, more than 300 volunteers came together and changed our community for the better at 62 project sites across Marshall County. The dollar value of their work was estimated at $27,500 — but the value of building a community goes beyond measure.
Participation in Day of Caring is open to everyone. You can form a team or join an existing team to get involved. This year there are 84 projects up for adoption — 22 of these projects are new. You can select a project or projects from the following categories:
• Arts & Entertainment (7 project up for adoption)
• Repairs, Building, Gardening & General Help (21 projects up for adoption)
• In-House Collections/Drives (40 projects up for adoption)
• People Projects (16 up for adoption)
Projects go fast, so if you have a favorite, adopt it early!
Day of Caring will kick-off on September 13 at 7:30 a.m. with a breakfast held at the First Baptist Church of Albertville. Day of Caring also kicks-off United Way’s 2011 fund raising campaign. Breakfast tickets and t-shirts are free to participating project volunteers.
This year’s Day of Caring sponsors include:
Parker, Sand Mountain Toyota, Mitchell Grocery, Syncro Corporation, Citizens Bank & Trust, WQSB, Total Dental Care, and Spicer & Hammond Mortgage.
Thank you for creating opportunities and inspiring hope for a better tomorrow. We look forward to seeing you at Day of Caring.
