An Albertville man ended up behind bars after attempting to get his girlfriend out of jail by telling officials their child had died.
According the Marshall County Sherriff’s Department, a man went into the District Attorney’s office on Thursday seeking his girlfriends release by claiming their child had been killed after falling off a tractor and being run over by a bush hog.
The man claimed he wanted to get her out in order to notify her and make burial plans.
Prosecutors from the D.A.’s office went to the courthouse to see what could be done to release the women, but after further researching the situation it was discovered that the man’s story didn’t stack up.
The main problem with the lie was that no one else could verify it and no record of a 9-1-1 call about the accident existed.
While the story was being questioned, the man ran from the building.
Guntersville police quickly caught the man, who was identified as 21 year old Donald Edward Lowe.
Lowe was charged with making false report to a law enforcement agency and was booked into the Marshall County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
