"May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed."
- Psalm 20:4
Evaluations are a good thing. They help me see where I am increasing and where I need to decrease. It is time for me to look at my walk with God and see where I need to adjust in order to increase to His purpose for my life.
1. Weakness – discovering my points of trial and trouble will help me plan a better path. Knowing where I need to grow is just as important (and sometimes more important) than knowing where I am strong. Sampson believed his strength came from his hair and lost his connection (and his strength) to God.
2. Faith – trust will guide my walk. It is vital that I build my faith by developing a personal, intimate relationship with the Light. Abraham knew that Isaac was the promised child and had no knowledge of HOW God would make that happen if Isaac was a sacrifice but Abraham had the Faith that it would happen.
3. Maturity – growth is the only way to get to where I need to be. I need to be stronger today than I was yesterday. Study, prayer time and quiet time has to increase if I am to decrease.
4. Patience – learning how to be persistent in my waiting. It is not about my timing but about God’s timing. I have to grow to hear from Him and to be patient while His purpose unfolds. It took Noah about 160 years to build a boat in a region that had never experienced rain.
It is time to take a closer look at my walk and see where I am growing and where I am coming up short. Growing to my purpose requires that I evaluate my life and continue to change and grow to the person that I am called to be.
Lord, help me to see and understand all that You have created me to be. Grow in me the vision to see the path and the courage to take one step along that path. Guide me one step at a time until I reach that person and the purpose that You have planned.
