"There has to be more." Most people have made this statement at some point in time, or at the very least the words have floated through the mind. Life falls into a mundane pattern that can make the ordinary actions required to survive – like work – almost painful.
Life was designed to be full of purpose. Finding that purpose for your life fills the days with passion. Passion pushes out the mundane and makes the ordinary feel extraordinary.
How do you find your purpose?
1. Remember that there was only one burning bush. All of the experts can tell you what they think you need to do to get where you want to be, but your path will be unique because YOU are unique.
2. Review the things that you enjoy doing that serve a purpose for others. Passion comes from service and service is all about the other guy. Make a list of all the things that you enjoy, are good at doing, have the education or experience to do or others tell you that you excel at doing. Read over that list and highlight those things that make you feel alive. Rate the items on a scale from one to ten (with ten being the things that give you the most enjoyment). You can use this list to begin uncovering your passion.
3. Respond to the pull on your heart. You may feel the need to go and do but hold back because of what "they" might think or say. Be bold enough to pursue the passion. The purpose of each life may not be the expected path of that person, for that person or by that person. Be willing to step out of the boat.
4. Recognize opportunities when they come your way. Be on the lookout for the path that will help take you to the passion driven life that you seek. New connections and avenues open up every day. Never let the fear of failure detour you from taking the chance. The only sure way to fail is to never try.
5. Ready your life for the change. Start your preparations by eliminating debt. Enslavement to others in the form of payments will always limit the ability to fly. Reduce the amount of clutter in your life (and in your home). Too much stuff hinders the ability for new blessings. Finally, begin to build up savings so that you will have a net to give you that added courage for your journey.
The normal life is highly over-rated. Most of us settle for the ordinary because the expected path has been well trod. Taking the steps to live the extraordinary existence that comes with passion can be a bit scary. The journey may require stepping off the path or making a new path altogether but it will be worth the leap of faith.
