As soon as you walk into the doors of Cookies, Cakes and Cavities your greeted with giant hand sized cookies, sausage balls made into a perfect circle and cupcakes topped to perfection that look as if they came from only the finest of bakeries.
With everything made by hand, owner Jamie Wood guarantees that no two cakes that come from her kitchen are the same, each is unique in its own colorful way.
As the doors first opened to Cookies, Cakes and Cavities on Tuesday, June 15th, Wood, like all first time business owners, was a little nervous.
"You just never know really," Wood said. "You don’t know if your going to be busy or even if your going to make it."
Wood imaged she would have some support due to the fact that she has been baking specialty cakes for family and friends for more than three years, but she never expected the outcome.
"We have just been overwhelmed with business," Wood said smiling. "We run out of food almost every day and have to go and get more."
Wood, who was a dental assistant for eight years before creating her dream, says everything started out just as a hobby.
"It started out with my family wanting me to make cakes for things, then it went to my friends and then I had complete strangers call me and want me to make them a cake," Wood continued. "There was always a high demand for my cakes and I just loved doing it."
Wood says her specialty cakes aren’t the normal the most would expect.
"I like to make them each as unique and individual. I use mostly Fondante and gum paste to decorate and everything is edible," Wood continued. "I have a book that has pictures of my specialty cakes, but if someone wants to bring me a picture or give me an idea of what they want, I can put it together."
Wood assures customers that they won’t be disappointed in stopping by.
"We have a new flavor of cupcakes everyday and are adding more to our list," Wood said. "If your looking for something sweet and a little different, then you should come in."
Cookies, Cakes and Cavities is opened Tuesday through Fridays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon.
