Montgomery, Ala- Tennessee Valley Caucus representatives showed their support for Representative Jeff McLaughlin (D-Guntersville) at an event in Arab yesterday.
Representative Marcel Black, Representative John Robinson, and Representative Johnny Mack Morrow joined over 200 people at Arab City Park Pavilion.
Morrow presented McLaughlin with a copy of a resolution passed by members of the Tennessee Valley Caucus during the last session. The resolution praises McLaughlin’s leadership and service as Chair of the Caucus.
“Members of both parties sponsored this resolution. Everyone agrees that the Tennessee Valley Caucus would not be nearly as strong or successful without Jeff’s leadership,” said Morrow.
“Jeff is a true statesman, and he has accomplished a great deal for everyone in the Tennessee Valley, not just his district. The entire state is lucky to have him as a representative,” said Morrow.
As a tribute to McLaughlin, Robinson read the poem, “Wanted” by Josiah Gilbert Holland.
“The poem is basically a prayer that God will send us leaders who are courageous, selfless, and honorable, and it’s a perfect description of Jeff,” said Robinson.
The Tennessee Valley Caucus is a group of 22 members from the House of Representatives who represent North Alabama counties. Formed in 2005, the group meets regularly during the legislative session to address issues affecting the Tennessee Valley area such as TVA in-lieu-of funds and protecting the Tennessee River from interbasin transfers.
